Balboa eBike Rentals offers hourly, all-day, overnight, and weekly rentals from the Balboa Fun Zone on the Balboa Peninsula.

We’re steps from the boardwalk and Balboa Pier. Walk-ups are welcome, or reserve online.

We’re inside the Balboa Fun Zone, a short ride from the oceanfront boardwalk. From the shop you can quickly reach Balboa Pier, the ferry, The Wedge, Newport Pier, and other peninsula favorites.

Legal bicycles and e-bikes may be ridden on the oceanfront boardwalk subject to posted rules. The posted maximum speed is 8 mph. Slow down around pedestrians, keep right when appropriate, and follow current signs. Bikes are not allowed on the sand.

Start at Balboa Pier and ride the boardwalk toward Newport Pier and 32nd Street. It’s scenic, mostly flat, and close to beaches, restaurants, piers, and harbor areas. We’ll adjust the route for your rental time, experience, crowds, and weather.

Two hours is usually enough for the boardwalk, Balboa Peninsula, Newport Pier, and part of Lido Island without long stops.

All day is better for food stops, shopping, The Wedge, the Balboa Ferry, or riding toward Huntington Beach. Overnight and weekly rentals are also available.

Yes. Many all-day renters head north using coastal bicycle paths and designated routes. Ask us about the best current route, battery range, and turnaround time before leaving.

Yes. The ride from the Fun Zone down the peninsula to The Wedge is one of our favorites. Keep bikes on legal paved routes and off the sand.

Yes. You can take an eBike on the Balboa Ferry, subject to current operating rules, capacity, and fare. Balboa Island is great for waterfront views, food, shopping, and sightseeing.

Yes. Newport Beach has coastal paths, bike lanes, paved routes, and scenic riding areas around the peninsula, Balboa Island, Lido Island, Newport Harbor, Back Bay, and north toward Huntington Beach. Riders still need to obey traffic laws, speed limits, and posted restrictions.

Yes—most customers can ride them even if they have never used an eBike. Before every rental we explain the controls, brakes, pedal assist, throttle, safe starts and stops, and local rules. Riders should already be comfortable balancing a regular bicycle.

Riders must be at least 14 years old. Ages 14–17 need the permission and supervision required by a parent or legal guardian and must wear a helmet. Requirements can also depend on the eBike’s legal classification.

Yes. Helmets are included at no additional charge. California law requires riders under 18 to wear one, and we recommend helmets for everyone.

Yes, whenever bikes are available. Reservations are recommended on weekends, holidays, sunny days, and during summer. Online booking is the best way to lock in your date and start time.

Yes. Choose your date, start time, number of riders, and bikes on our reservation page. Payments are processed securely through Square, and Apple Pay is accepted.

Paid lots and street parking are available throughout the peninsula, but they fill quickly on busy days. Use our Balboa Peninsula Secret Parking Map and give yourself extra time before your reservation.

Mornings and weekdays usually have fewer pedestrians. Late afternoon and sunset are beautiful but can be busier. Conditions vary with weather, season, holidays, and local events—we’ll give you current suggestions when you arrive.
